You may see that some restaurants in the Middle East have gender-based seating arrangement. Family sections are designed for a group of people that have women and children in it. Meanwhile, there are different seating sections which are for solo men or men-only groups. If you sit int he opposite section whether as a man or woman, you will be asked to move. Here are also restaurants that don’t apply this seating arrangement but there are still some of them with it so you’d better be more knowledgeable about it. Another tips for female travelers to stay safe while traveling solo in the Middle East is to seek out local women. When you are in need of help of directions or stuffs, ask a group of women instead. If you take public transport, wit with women passengers. Or at least, you can stand close to them. Also, you might catch many attention when you are travelling solo in the Middle East. Some may ask you for a photo or just try to speak in English with you. Other unwanted attention may also happen. If you feel disturbed, just say no and move on. If the attention is threatening, go to the nearest hotel lobby or seek out local tourist police.
