How To Know If You Are Not An Awesome Traveler

It is easy to think that you are such an awesome traveler because you think you have done nothing wrong during your trips. More often than not, it is easier to judge other people than yourself. It is easy to find mistakes on other people during the trip. When you think about yourself all the time, it is already a sign that you are not that an awesome traveler. By constantly thinking about yourself, you will only focus bad things on other people, easily getting offended by others, justifying your own rudeness, etc. 

Things to show you are not that an awesome traveler

There are many signs to show that you are a horrible traveler if you are willing to read them. Here are some of signs that can indicate you are no so awesome individual during travel:

You are placed in a worst hotel room. When this happens, try to reflect on yourself whether you have exude rude behavior when interacting with the staff during booking process. It is considered unprofessional for hotel staffs to put you in worst room but they are also only human. When they are treated badly, they want to give it just as much. Hence, make sure to always behave respectfully to whoever you meet or interact with, not for the sake of being treated well back but for the cause of being a decent human being.  

Being cheap is different from being frugal. Budget travelling is common and you can have it. It means you will be more careful with your spending by choosing hostel over hotel, eating at local diner, and opt for public transport. It means you are being frugal. However, being cheap means you avoid tipping, haggle fiercely and inappropriately, and not appreciating other people as human. Hence, don’t be a cheap traveler. 

If you find your seatmate ask to move away from you then it is probably because you are a horrible seatmate to travel with. There are many reasons why your seatmate ask the flight attendant to move away from you. It can be because you have offended them, have screaming baby with you, or keep invading their personal space. When a flyer avoid to be close to you, it can be a bad sign even though you get a whole row for yourself to rejoice. 

You are not an awesome traveler if you keep getting your selfie stick in everyone’s way. In fact, selfie stick is banned in various places because it can get in the way of people who want to fully enjoy the attraction. Hence, leave your selfie stick at home. When you are too focusing yourself on taking a selfie that includes all stuffs in the background, the more you are missing out. 

To avoid being a horrible traveler, always respect the others, be kind to everyone you encounter with, and do not provoke. You can still be an awesome traveler and enjoy your trip to the fullest without offending people. Hence, always be a decent human being all the time.
